Sage Cures Excessive Sweating? Find out how...

If you know what sage is, (an Herb) you might be wondering why I've placed it outside of the herbs section just above this. And if you read further you might even be wondering why I've placed the sage tea recipe outside of the herbal tea recipes. There are as ever simple answers for all of these questions.

In this instance the answer is even simpler than you can imagine. In all my many efforts at finding a proper natural remedy to help me combat my sweaty problems, I found that sage was one of the better recommended herbs to do so.

Personally speaking I didn't find that sage alone worked wonders for me, I had to also make certain lifestyle changes as well, but barring that I found sage in all of its goodness to be one of the better sweat treatment remedies.

To that extent I decided that sage, over and above the other herbs, deserved a section all of its own away from the other herbs. And I duly gave it the star treatment, which is why you¡¯re reading about sage here and now, instead of in the earlier sections.

I have first included a small overview of sage and its many properties, and from there I have gone on to give you two recipes for sage tea, which you may or may not like. It¡¯s really a love-it or hate-it kind of thing.

I've found that some people love the taste of sage and some people can't stand the taste of it. Others of course will give anything a try if it can help their sweating problems even if they don¡¯t like the taste of the sage.

What it all boils down to (if you will forgive that purely unintentional pun!), is to what extent you're willing to go to in order to help yourself.

There is also the theory that to help you combat sweating, sage tea needs to be drunk cold to stop sweating, otherwise if it is drunk while still hot, it can induce sweating.

It has also been said that when you drink sage tea, that the effects can be seen for up to about two hours. In other words, you can stay sweat free for about two hours or so after drinking a cooling cup of sage tea.

**Note: If you are pregnant, or expecting to become pregnant avoid sage in all of its forms. If you suffer from epilepsy, sage can cause epileptic strokes.

Graphites -- if you have worse symptoms during the night time; if you are stout or overweight; and if your perspiration is offensive or foul smelling.
 
Psorinum -- if odor is constant and persists even after washing; if the skin looks dull or dirty.

Kali phosphorica -- if you sweat early in the morning; if cold weather affects you; if mental stimuli such as stress and anxiety affects you adversely.

Silicea -- if your sweat smells offensive; if you sweat mostly on the feet or underarms; and if you tend to have chilly hands or feet.

Do Hyperhidrosis Deodorants Cause Breast Cancer

The truth, as ever about something as serious and potentially life threatening as breast cancer caused by or as a result of, constant deodorant usage is mired in the mists of science and finance.

There’s a pretty good chance that the truth will rear its head sometime in the future, but until then there can only be speculation. And speculation is most definitely a two way street!

If you’re into conspiracy theories, then it becomes easier to believe that there really is a link between breast cancer and the constant and regular usage of deodorants, and that there is cover-up about it instigated by the powers that be, whoever that is.

On the other end of the spectrum, there is the widely held belief that science is infallible and that if science hasn’t found it yet, then it can’t be true. Therefore, going along those lines, there is no convincing and palpable link between breast cancer and deodorants.

I personally prefer to sit back and watch the developments unfold. Obviously somebody has to be right, or both sides have to be partially correct. Until such time as any result can be verified as being the truth, I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Science could be right and there could be absolutely no connection between the two, but then again so could the conspiracy theorists be right, and deodorants could be one of the leading causes of breast cancer (and other diseases too!).

In which case, if I had consciously ignored the warnings which were staring me in the face, isn’t possible that I would by that time be saddled with who knows what type of life threatening illness I could have?

The best thing to do in this case is to be aware of the facts as they stand. Take as many precautions as you can, but live your life as well. It’s no use your avoiding deodorants and other such “bad” things only to live a hermit-like existence!

So what about breast cancer and deodorants then? Well, as I said earlier, the jury is still out on that one, but we do have some of the facts at hand to make up our own minds, and our own decisions.

There is no conclusive link between breast cancer and deodorants.

It has been proven to cause lung cancer, there is a warning on the front of each packet of cigarettes, and yet there are still millions, even billions of people in the world today who smoke at least one or two cigarettes a day, if not a pack.

So the whole issue on the conclusiveness of the link between breast cancer and deodorants is moot.
You will naturally enough and in due course make up your own mind, and not because someone pressures you to do so, but because you interpret the facts you’re given in a certain way. This is natural, and this is human nature.

What you need to do now, is to decide whether you want to continue using chemical based antiperspirants and deodorants, or whether you want to try natural deodorants and methods for preventing or dealing with sweat.

But since you’re reading this book which is all about natural deodorants and other natural sweat and odor prevention methods, it can be safely assumed that you’re headed in that direction anyway.

On my part, I have to say, (and just in case you haven’t already guessed!), that I prefer to use more natural methods.

This is not only because I started getting adverse reactions to any deodorants and antiperspirants that I used, but also because with age, I am becoming more discriminate about what I put in and on my body.

First off we want to thank all of you for a great first year of BodyByBoyle Online! In the first year we have posted almost 100 Hours of Educational Video Content covering everything from strength and conditioning, to rehab, to nutrition, to fitness, to business, to talks from guest speakers, and much more! 

The big new feature we are implementing into the website is iPhone/iPad video support. Hopefully within the next week the new video player will be up. In the meantime I am hard at work converting our current video library so they will all be viewable on your iOS device. 

We also are planning to have a bunch more In Service and Guest Presenters coming to the facility. You may remember that in the last year we had some of the best minds in the field come in from, Dan John, Sue Falsone, Nick Tumminello, Charlie Weingroff, and many more. Expect more of that this year.

The MBSC NFL Combine Program stars up soon. We will be having some great content from that including videos of the testing procedures and maximizing your results, Mike talking about NFL Combine Prep, and getting the most out of your 2-3 months of combine prep.

Also you might have heard that Mike Boyle was recently named Head Strength Coach for the Boston Red Sox, so expect a good amount of Baseball content on the site this year as well.

Over the last two weeks we have posted two in services that John Pallof gave to the MBSC staff on Strategies for Healthy Shoulders. In this two part series John broke down the shoulder and its surrounding structures to give you an in depth background. From there we went onto the floor and went through his most effective set of activations and exercises that trainers and coaches can use with their athletes to keep them on the field, court, or other various playing surfaces.

The condition which causes excessive sweating is defined as Hyperhidrosis. Research shows that about 4% of the population has symptoms which are typical to hyperhidrosis. Types of Hyperhidrosis

There are two main categories into which hyperhidrosis can be divided into - primary hyperhidrosis or focal hyperhidrosis and secondary or generalized hyperhidrosis.

Primary or Focal Hyperhidrosis.

Suffers of primary or focal hyperhidrosis complain of excessive sweating around the arm area, hands, feet and even the face. This kind of hyperhidrosis is triggered by problems in the nervous system, hence the sweat glands end up producing excessive sweat.

Secondary of Generalized Hyperhidrosis.

As the name suggests, this kind of hyperhidrosis causes excessive sweating across the whole body. This condition results from some health conditions such as metabolic disorders, neurological disorders and menopause.

The good news is that hyperhidrosis can be treated. Simple lifestyle changes like using antiperspirants , wearing comfortable and loose clothing, avoiding clothing like nylon, lycra and a diet which excludes spicy food can cure mild cases of hyperhidrosis. Hi there, Jane here...I just wanna share a very helpful program that finally helped me pass my Medical Coding CPC exam to become a Certified Professional Coder.

I've sat for the CPC exam once before, but failed the first time...then I came across this CPC Exam Practice Exam Study Guide.

As the CPC exam is an open book exam, learning where to look for the full rationale answers is very important.

I learned alot from practicing past year questions and CPC mock exam questions before my actual CPC exam. I actually timed myself to complete the 150 questions within 5 and a half hours. After that, I could mark my answers with the answer keys provided with full rationale.

These rationales provide the correct answer for each question as well as a full explanation as of why that option is correct, why the other three options are incorrect, and where in the medical coding books the answer can be located. Hi, Jane here...I've finally passed my CPC exam on my second try and would like to share some tips with you...

First of all, timing is crucial, many medical coders have failed not because they can't answer the questions, but they couldn't finish in time...

The CPC exam has 150 questions to be completed in 5 hours and 40 minutes, that gives about 2 minutes per question.

So time yourself to spend not more than 2 minutes per question, if you can't solve it within 2 minutes, mark the question and skip to the next. You can always come back later after you've answered all the other questions that you're sure of. Many medical coders have also shared that they "bumped" across the answers for some questions in other questions of the exam. So do keep a lookout.

Also, a good strategy may be to start at the back of the paper, where the questions may seem shorter and simpler.

Secondly, make sure you answer ALL questions. Towards the last 10 minutes if you're running out of time, go back to all those questions that you've skipped and just pick an answer randomly. There's still a 25% chance of getting the answer correct even if you guessed the answer.

Thirdly, as the CPC exam is an open book exam, take advantage of this and make notes and highlight your coding books to make it easier and faster to search for the codes. You are allowed to have handwritten notes, highlights, and colorful tabs to mark the pages, but you can't have any loose papers in your books.

Fourthly, practice on past year and CPC mock exam questions as much as you can. This really helped me alot. Also, time yourself to finish all 150 questions within 5 hours and 40 minutes. You will learn alot from marking and reviewing your answers with the full rationale provided along with these CPC practice exam packages. I bought a few CPC practice exams, I recommend practicing the 150 question mock exam that's most similar in format to the actual CPC exam.

It cost me only $37 for the whole 150 questions (some practice exams only have 50 questions), all questions come with full rationale answers to explain which is the correct answer, and why the other 3 answers are incorrect, and where in your coding books to locate the answer. Another bonus is that this practice exam package also came with a free CPC Exam Study Guide 2013 version which includes the Common Anatomy Terminology Handouts, Common Medical Terminology Prefix, Root Word, and Suffix Handouts which helped me organize my studying. One tip, read the guidelines and handouts very carefully.

Lastly, master your terminology and anatomy, CPT and ICD-9 Guidelines. Because I did encounter many questions based on it, and these questions tend to be quite straight forward and easy to score if you've mastered your medical anatomy and terminology.

The passing mark is 70% for the overall CPC exam, they used to mark by sections but they calculate the overall marks now.

One good tip I got from another medical coder was When answering a question, look at the ICD-9 codes first. You'll be able to eliminate 1 or 2 answer options just by doing so. Also, jot down all the vocab that you're unsure of in your coding book, especially the colors. Do pay special attention to the guidelines of the anesthesia and E/M sections. Knowing your guidelines do make a world of difference.
